using usb ms. lifecam hd-5000 as camera ~and~ mic on skype,,,
hi,
i have a microsoft usb lifecam hd-5000 connected to a dell inspiron 1501 run by ubuntu 10.10, kernel version 2.6.35-28-generic.
the video from the camera works fine using cheese and skype. but the rub is that the inspron 1501 has no built-in mic. subsequently i want to use the hd-5000 mic (which it appears to have on the upper right-hand corner on the front of it).
skype ~does~ recognized the camera and is displaying video from it but does not seem to be reading audio from it.
is it possible to read the audio from this camera? if yes then how please?
