Question Using a Logitech Wireless mouse with xfree86

Right now i have the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse

But how could i go with using this mouse with installation of Slackware 8.1.
i tried using the usb-to-ps2 hookup, but xf86 was not seeing my mouse, or im probably just doing something wrong, any idea on what to do, to get this mouse to work with it?
