I want live stream some music to uStream. In searching the ubuntu forum for information I came across this posting. ubuntu forum thread

Does this meet the required 4 ports mentioned for alike cameras in the forum posting.

If not, I have one of these.. Is this what they are talking about.

I have just started thinking about this again and am not sure if I'm asking the right question. I don't want to go buying a bunch of hardware I can not use. So I'm hoping to look to someone here who has some experience in live streaming audio / video to one of the distribution sites.

I do not recommend any more than one web cam for USB because of USB bandwidth problems. Also USB is poor for latency and it is meant to replace serial and parallel ports. You already have devices on USB which will make hurt the performance of each web cam and your setup will not be able to handle power consumption for each USB web cam. If you want to hook up four cameras and see what camera is pointed at, you have to buy four PCI or PCIe video capture cards. Another way is to use Ethernet cameras. If you are going to use the Ethernet method, I suggest two NIC. One for hooking up to the cameras and the other to output to a server.

An Intel ATOM processor is under power to handle four videos at the same time. I suggest a better setup that can handle it and when the only way to upload to Ustream is through Flash crap. If you want something cheap, I suggest an AMD Phenom II 945 to be at the least.

Be careful with music or anything that is copyrighted, so make sure it is your own. The Fair Use Act is a gray issue on the Internet. Also any music that you created yourself and you put it on the Internet. It is then the Internet's material, so your non-copyright music can be use by anybody to get rich or anything.
