using 2 hdd's on the same channel

Not sure if any-one else has ever had this trouble (too lazy to search )......

having 2 hard disk drive's on the same channel (ie. HDD on Primary master AND primary slave) has some problems with ISOLINUX.

ISOLINUX is the boot loader used to boot a linux kernel directly from a CD, and unfortunately, pretty much all cd-install based distro's (debian, red hat, slackware, mandy etc) will fail to start the setup.

Having 2 hdd's on the same channel isn't a good idea anyway, it tends to cause slowdowns although is sometimes necessary due to IDE channel restrictions.

SO..... the solution, MOVE ONE OF THE HDD'S FROM THE CHANNEL TO ANOTHER! .

I am going to contact the maker of ISOLINUX to ask if he can fix this error, if not, nevermind.

1.) What problems were they? you can ask us questions.... you never know we might know the answers.

2.) ALWAYS search the forum. A lot of people here do not like lazy people and will flame visciously if they suspect you are. Since you just proclaimed it........

make sure its an error first before you get in contact with them.

Alex

P.S. I have two hard disks on the same cable, and I have no problems. Slackware installed fine.

i already explained my problem, ISOLINUX would not actually get into the installer. i fixed the problem myself anyway.

this post was just to help people who may have ran into that problem, it wasnt a question.

and i can't help my lazyness, i don't mind being flamed, i just leave.
