ok im sure im gonna get bashed for opening up this thread again or something... but jaunty is f*n me off finally, i cant transfer files any faster then 4.0 Mbs a second to a portable usb 500GB drive or to any of my flash drives. I know that this is not a usb issue seeing as how ive used Firewire and SATA II and i get same horrible issue!!! so if anyone suggests either usb3.0...sata... sataII or Firewire please keep ur opinion to urself i already know about all these and i used to not have this problem on a crapy windows computer but on ubuntu ( or any Distro of Linux ) i seem to get a horrible transfer rate and i cant get it increase no matter what i wonder if its a problem with the Kernel, or something that couldve been updated that shouldnt have been back in version like 7.10 because back when i ran gusty i had increadible everything but i later upgraded to hardy and that had so many horrible issued i went and clean installed early this year. I never really noticed the issue till i went over to my friends and his shitty windows computer transfer 10X or 20X faster then my laptop ever did! some one give some advice here maybe its a distro problem but i doubt that seeing as how its the same with Mandriva, Mint, Ubuntu, Dream, Gentoo... i have friends that run all them and have similar or worse issues then me.
