USB Wireless not recognised

First of all i am running mandrake CD 10.1, trying to install 3com usb adapter. have installed ndiswrapper as it is known to work with this card with the windows driver. Everything installed ok, but mandrake doesn't seem to recognise my device. This is what dmesg shows when i plug in the card

usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 5
ndiswrapper (ndis_init_one_usb:1725): Windows driver couldn't initialize the device (C0010006)
3c254g72: probe of 1-1:1.0 failed with error -22

however ndiswrapper tells me that the driver is loaded successfully and the device is present.

when i type iwconfig the device does not show up
in the control center in hardware the device doesnt show up but i think there is an unrecognised usb device
Vendor: ‎(null)
Description: ‎
Media class: ‎

Bus: ‎USB
Bus PCI #: ‎1
PCI device #: ‎5
Vendor ID: ‎1286
Device ID: ‎2577

Doe the usb device need some special mount or something?
Any help would be much appreciated?

Is it a 3CRSHEW696 ? There doesn't seem to be ndiswrapper support for it properly, although there might be a native linux driver. What's the full model number of the device and the FCCID (if you got it in the US), and the output of:

/sbin/lsusb

Cheers,

the card is the 3com 3CRWE254G72 and it is the first listed supported device on the ndiswrapper working cards list.

There doesnt seem to be a native driver, and there is no output from /sbin/lsusb

The device is installed properly recognised by ndiswrapper but no the system.

I took a look around and can't find any native driver just yet... so take another look at ndiswrapper. The stock release isn't working, but the CVS might, and if not... if you drop information onto the mailing list and volunteer to give back testing info, they might get it working shortly.
