I know there are like a gazillion topics devoted to this, but I haven't found any of them helpful.
I'm trying to run a Gyration Ultra Cordless Suite (keyboard and mouse) with Mandrake 9.1. The suite has no specialized drivers. I managed to get the keyboard up and running in literally thirty seconds, and both work instantly in XP. However, no matter how I configure mousedrake, it won't recognize the Gyration mouse. The receiver is a joint USB receiver for both inputs, and the mouse is a fairly standard optical wheel mouse (other than its gyroscope components, but it handles all that internally.)
Now I'm having major problems...GUI is slow to respond after switching out of text mode, I got an error message about my ids respawning too quickly, and the GUI login screen is slow to load.
I tried setting MouseDrake back to USB wheel mouse, hoping that it would prevent some sort of conflict between Gyration Mouse1 and Dell Mouse2, but neither is being recognized.
My GUI is totally unusable. All because of a USB mouse.
That is all way over my head. Plus, while trying to follow some of those directions, I've just noticed that usbmouse in /dev is flashing red and white. WTF?
i am planning on getting this setup soon, got a really good deal on it, has anybody got this keyboard/mouse suite working with any version of linux? thanks.
Apparently this user was able to get the Gyration mouse and keyboard to work under Suse. I haven't tried it yet, but am looking into having the same for my Myth TV Mandrake box at home:
