My Logitech C615 has stopped plug & playing, and I think I need some help with drivers...? Something appears in my lsusb and dmesg results when I plug the camera in, but it's not initialized, no /dev/video0 is created, and I can't use it. I have used this webcam on this system many times before, and don't know what has changed.
These lines show up in dmesg when I plug in the camera, but nothing more:
Code:
[ 1024.200077] usb 1-6.3: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=082c
[ 1024.200081] usb 1-6.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=2, SerialNumber=1
[ 1024.200083] usb 1-6.3: Product: HD Webcam C615
[ 1024.200085] usb 1-6.3: SerialNumber: 34631DD0
Did you check lsusb or lshw? Make sure that correct driver is present.
cheers
Hi, thanks for helping.
1. As I mentioned in the original post, the webcam does show up in lsusb (lsusb -v produces ~1300 lines about it)
2. I don't know what the correct driver for the webcam is; I'm operating under the assumption that it should be included in the kernel, because I never had to install any device-specific drivers for this webcam previously.
3. The internet suggests that the linux driver for this webcam is 'uvc'; how would I go about checking that it's installed and working properly?
