USB Thumbdrive - Front Port of Antec Tower
I have a system that is running Debian Etch 4.0r6 and stock kernel. Here are my machine specs:
AMD Athlon 1800+ CPU Gigabyte GA-7VAxp Mobo Antec SX800ii Series Tower (two front USB ports and 1 IEEE) Machine has 2 USB ports built into mobo and I have 4 Port USB cable attached in back of Tower I have noticed that when I plug my Micro Cruzer USB thumbdrive in the front port I don't ever see it mount but I have a Lexar Media USB thumbdirve I can plug in and it mounts. I know for sure that the Micro Cruzer is USB 2.0 compliant but the Lexar I am not sure (maybe just 1.1 -works in front port of tower fine). I can take the Cruzer and plug in in the back and it works fine. I have always been under the impression that you should be able to take a USB 2.0 and plug it into a 1.1 slot and it mount; it just wont work at peak capacity. Is that a true statement? If so, how can I make my Micro Cuzer thumbdrive work in the front ports of my tower? lsusb output Bus 008 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 007 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 006 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 004 Device 005: ID 03f9:0100 KeyTronic Corp. Are you able to mount it manually in the front?
