Cool USB support

Hey, I heard that the newest kernel (2.something) has USB support.
Is this true?
If so, how do I upgrade my kernel (currently running caldera (almost))?

I had a quick teoma (like a google) but the stuff I found was pretty confusing.

Oh yeah, the version of caldera is pretty old(computer terms), it was out of a "Teach yourself linux" starter kit.

Thanks guys

titanium_geek

PS linux is coming to my computer SOON!!

2.4.x has USB support.
Get one from www.kernel.org and store it in /usr/src. Untar it, go in the directory and enter make menuconfig for a graphical text mode or make xconfig for an X mode.
I can't tell you how to configure the kernel as I don't know what sort of hardware you've got, but if you encounter any problems, you know what to do

USB support has also been (mostly) backported to the 2.2 series kernels. See http://www.linux-usb.org/ or Teoma for it.

If your system is as old as it sounds, it might be better to just upgrade the whole thing.

I'd say if you are going about doing an upgrade on the kernel, why not just get the latest? It's got support for everything before it, PLUS all the new stuff such as USB (even USB 2.0 with ehci).

The rest is all history (meaning it's searchable )

Cool
