USB problems.
Hello.I new you would click on this post with the title it has.
Anyways.
I am having problems with a few of my usb devices.
#1 Is my USB Aiptek Pen Cam I bought from walmart for 50 bucks (It was a steal for a webcam. Picture quality is crappy unless there is alot of light) I have it working although I can only use it to take pictures. If I want to use my webcam however (Which I do often) I need to reboot into windows. I also tried wine to run my webcam program but no luck.Gnome meeting dosen't like me nor does xawtv.
The other thing is my USB logitech wingman rumble pad gamepad. I read the joystick documentation page.I recompiled my kernel. I modprobed. I created devices. I removed devices. I linked devices. I salsa danced with devices. But no luck.I don't like rebooting just to use my joystick so I can play super dodge ball with a NES emulator.
I am running Slackware 8.0 with the 2.4.19 kernel on a 1ghz AMD athlon with 512 megs of ram and a geforce 2.
Any help would be appriciated or quickly dismissed if someone says "Buy a new camera" or "buy a new joystick"
Thanks.

I know the idea was to get attention, thus more eyeballs, but there are limits.
Also, you pluralized babies wrong... Now there's just no excuse for that!!! What is the planet coming to???
I wish I knew more about USB to help you out.
Cheers,
Finegan

Babys Looked right to me. Since I quote spelled it wrong unquote maybe more people will look.
I hate rebooting just to use my webcam. Webcams are so simple. I really woulden't even need the webcam part. Just a script to make the camera take a picture every 2 seconds or so and upload them in a directory for web viewing. You coulden't tell the difference from that and a live feed, sorta. The camera does work in linux, ie viewing pictures from it. Thats all I can get.

Wow this thread is old
And yes, I scare alot of people.
anyways I have everything I ever wanted working after cding into /usr/src/linux/Documentation/ and reading a few things.
I learned quickly thats alot easier than using google.
So I got my tv card working, my webcam, my usb wingman joystick, among other things.
Im also buying a brand new digital camera and a smart card reader today - I already have it set up, just need to buy it and plug it in
;D
Thanks everyone.
