Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

USB mouse through PS/2 KVM

I'm running Slackware 10 and the mouse, a Logitech USB optical running through a USB->PS/2 adapter into a KVM switch, doesn't seem to move. I first installed Slackware setting it to a USB mouse (without thinking) and in that installation it wouldn't even load X. Setting it to PS/2 has allowed me to boot X but it still won't move. Any ideas?

I recently had a similar problem setting a serial mouse to ttyS0
when it was actually on ttyS1.
Editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf didn't work.
I had to re-run xorgconfig and all was well.

Have you tried unplugging from the kvm and plugging the ps2
adapter into the ps2 mouse port to narrow things down?

It does work when I remove the KVM from the picture, but due to the setup of the area it would really be nice if I didn't have to.
