Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

USB mouse/system time

I installed Fedora 3 on a DELL Precision.
I have 2 problems that I could not solve:

-> During the installation I missconfigured the mouse: IMPS/2. I have a USB mouse. It works fine, but sometimes (pretty offen) it freezes and I have to restart the sytem. If I edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to set USB, my X can not start again. Do I also have to set something else than the Section "InputDevice"?

-> My system time is 3 hours behind the real time, however I set the Bios, TimeZone correctly; this morning it started to be 6 hours behind the real time. ???

Thanks for your help in advance,

On the time: linux is happiest if your system clock is set to gmt and the localtime file is linked to the proper timezone. Sounds like you're over-compensating.

IMPS/2 refers to the protocol of data sent by the mouse, not the physical interface. Just make sure your device is properly set for the USB mouse and set the protocol accordingly. I use a USB mouse with IMPS/2.
