USB-Joystick?

Hi there!

I just bought the rerelease of the famous competition pro (USB). I pluged it in and dmesg told me:

hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.3-2, assigned address 2
input: USB HID v1.00 Gamepad [MOSIC USB 2A4K GamePad ] on usb5:2.0

But trying to access /dev/jsx doesn't work: No such device.

So I tried to load the joystick module. Cannot localte module ....

I am using the kernel 2.4.29 from Slack10.1 ... but had the same problems with selfcompiled 2.4.28 under Slack 10.0

I didn't find anything special about USB joysticks in the driver's README .. is there a general problem with USB-Joysticks? Or something different on installing them?

And, I am not so sure what exactly I have to do ... just instal lthe driver or install driver and recompile kernel or just recompilekernel and select something specially? I don't udnerstand the README completly and I don't want to ruin something :-)

Can someone tell me how to find out, what the precompiled kernel has selected and how to find out what to do to get joystick up and running?

Thanks and Greetings, Sascha

I found my mistake!

I have to

# modprobe joydev

not

# modprobe joystick

Works now!!! Sorry for bothering! :-)

Greetings, Sascha
