USB hub not working with mandrake 9.1

Strange problem here, I've just purchased a Sitecom CN-019 four port USB hub, now the strange thing is that it worked once (I seem to remember configuring a USB mouse connected to a seprate port on the mobo from the hub during that session), but after a reboot, it no longer works.

My mobo has six USB ports, two each on three root hubs, and these all work fine. Usbview seems to show the new sitecom hub as not being connected to any of the three root hubs, but as if it were a fourth on the mobo, could this be part of the problem?

Cheers!

EDIT:

here's the USB-related stuff from dmesg:

here's a shot in the wind...

i had a similiar problem and i was told to go in and disable (or override) Hotspot. the way to do that is during setting up your Internet connection.

like i said, just a shot in the wind but, even if thats not the case, the USB will work my Dell system depends on it.... and it's so nice to have an external LinkSys USB hub with my external 40 gig maxtor HD, my Canon Flashcard Reader, my Backpack CD-Rewrtier and my Logitect USB camera all working at the same time....

and all hotswap able btw!

cheers,

- perry
