How do i install my HP deskjet 930c printer in RH 7.1. HP doesn't provide drivers, and i noticed that the print config has a driver for it. The Kernel says it supports USB.

It installs it under the parallel port i think.

But i see USB stuff when i do:

dmesg | grep usb

I went into the /etc/printcap.local file and inserted the following manually:

HPdeskjet | dj930c | lp
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/dj930c
:lp=/dev/usb0
:if=/var/spool/lpd/usb0/filter

I don't have a clue i am new to linux. My book i am using is geared towards the Linux+ exam and does little with its explanation.

HP do supply a driver, and your printer is likely to be /dev/usb/lp0. I use CUPS + Foomatic and the hpijs driver for my 810c usb printer.
