How do I mount a USB hard drive in Linux? I loaded the usb-storage module, but what device do I mount it as? I'm using Redhat 8.0 without devfs.

it should show up as a scsi device, type dmesg and check which scsi drive it's assigned as.

gary.chan,
You can check the hardware compatability list for the distro you are running. I would think any USB drive will work with linux as long as you are using a 2.4.x kernel.

I've been using a Pocketec for some time now and have been happy with it. Under SuSE 8.0 and 8.1 I it shows up as /dev/sda1.
