LinuxQuestions.org - USB hard drive enclosure

Hi everyone,

I'm using an NEC hard drive enclosure and I can mount it just fine. THe problem is if i use it long enough, I get i/o errors and I can't read from the drive anymore. Then if I unplug it and plug it back again, it gets assigned a new name (/dev/sd?) and i can read from it again. Then it just dies again minutes after. I use it for days on end in windows and it works all right.

I've tried running scandisk, badblocks, fsck.msdos and none of them report any physical problems. Anyone have an idea what's going on?
