USB hard drive enclosure
Hi everyone,
I'm using an NEC hard drive enclosure and I can mount it just fine. THe problem is if i use it long enough, I get i/o errors and I can't read from the drive anymore. Then if I unplug it and plug it back again, it gets assigned a new name (/dev/sd?) and i can read from it again. Then it just dies again minutes after. I use it for days on end in windows and it works all right. here's a bit of what's in /var/log/messages: Code:
SCSI error : <4 0 0 0> return code = 0x70000 |
If you google your error message "SCSI error" "return code = 0x70000" you will see quite a few reports, so it sounds like a USB bug.
Upgrading to the latest kernel is always worth a try. |
Yep, So far everything i've read points to it being a bug. And i was hoping a 2.6.12 kernel was recent enough. Thank you for your input.
