USB forgotten when powersave runs

Running Debian (testing) with 2.6.15-1 (from package manager). Problem is that USB devices disappear when I run 'powersave -U' to put my machine to sleep. lsusb shows nothing. Un/re-plugging usb cord does nothing. I have reloaded usblp, etc, and still nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks,
rjtucke
