Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

USB-ethernet converter compability

I would like to know if this converter will need an adapter to work on my computer:

http://www.amazon.com/USB-to-RJ-45-E...5179429&sr=1-1

My computer is Gnewsense KDE if that makes a difference. If you need more info to be sure please tell me what.

Look at the back of your computer, see if you have network connection already there. If you have no network card installed you can use this adaptor to give you an ethernet connection from your modem/router or switch to your computer.

Do you want to take a chance buying that USB to Ethernet adaptor or do you want one that actually works? A Linksys USB100TX works fine in Linux.

A Linksys USB100TX might work, but it's pricy, so what else will definitly work on linux? I have no network card installed.

Instead of buying that adaptor, why not buy a network card. They're cheap, easy to install and work a hell of a lot better than using usb.
