USB DVD-ROM cannot detect

Dear all,

I'm a new linux user. currently using linux enterprise 3.0

I'm having problem with my usb DVD-ROM. Cannot detect. I uses the same thing to install my Linux OS. Why after installing, i can't see my DVD-ROM, eventho i have data cd inside?? Please help.

after you turn on the drive(or plug it in) type dmesg and see what it says. chances are that it just isnt automounting it

your dvd drive should be /dev/scd0 or something to that effect...print your dmesg out on the forum if u r unsure what the last few lines mean after you plug the drive in

Thanks for the info. I've manage to get it done by plucking it into the motherboard usb...instead of the one at the front. and able to see it at fstab. after mounting, i'm able to use it. Thanks again. But my question now is why can't i use the front usb port??
