usb dvb causes keyboard problems

I have a freecom dvb usb tuner stick, which I've got working with mythtv on suse 10.2
All works fine for a while, but after a certain point the keyboard becomes really unresponsive, and also inputs spurious data.
The messages log repeatedly shows:

kernel: dvb-usb: recv bulk message failed: -110

Stopping mythbackend doesnt make any differnece. The instant I remove the stick the messages stop and the keyboard is back to normal. I can then insert again and carry on for another few hours.

A top during when it is doing this doesn't show a huge amount of load, and the top processes seem fairly innocent.

Any ideas why this is happening? Could anyone explain what the message really means and why it may occur?

I want to leave this on permamnently as a PVR so it needs to work for long periods of time.

Thanks in advance

OK. If nobody known the exact problem, can anyone point me in the direction of how to troubleshoot myself.

Are there any kernel/device logs I can be looking at apart from messages?

As I said unplugging and plugging in the PVR adapter solves it - is there a way to do this via shell commands so I could set up a monitoring job to check messages for errors, and restart adapter?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I don't think it's the keyboard. This thread may have some useful pointers. I've never used one of these myself so can't comment on it directly but good luck with it

Thanks. Most people are struggling to get it to work, wheras mine works but then goes unstable. However, the bit about the signal being too strong is a new one on me. I'll try it and see if it makes any difference.

Anyone know how to unplug/plug a USB device using command line, or would I have to physically unplug it?
