USB conflict

I have a working wireless USB network device, a Microsoft MN510 that uses a module called prism2_usb.

I also have a IR receiver device called "USB-UIRT" that claims to be supported by the linux kernel (i.e., does not need a specially-compiled LIRC module ... I believe it loads its own module then is supposed to "just work")

Problem is, whenever I plug in the USB-UIRT, the wireless networking device immediately stops working.

I'd post more info, but not sure where to begin troubleshooting this one. Is this problem likely to be fixable, or am I hosed?
