USB Bluetooth Adapter

I'm running Mandriva 2008.1 (Spring)

I picked up a Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter 2.0 and I installed the following packages:

The kbluetoothd icon is now in the system tray. I did reboot the system after the packages installed (shouldn't have to in theory). I then plugged in the USB bluetooth adapter. The icon is still grey and the menu items when I right click are grey'd out.

When I hover over the bluetooth icon I get the following:

Adapter: localhost-0
Address: [mac address here]
Mode: connectable
(Not connected)

Results from lsusb:

[root@localhost bassplayer]# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 047d:105e Kensington
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 045e:0040 Microsoft Corp. Wheel Mouse Optical
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
[root@localhost bassplayer]#
Bus 003 Device 004: is the USB->Bluetooth adapter

Why is it not detecting my adapter?

It has detected your adapter. The icon stays greyed out when there's no device permanently connected to it.

OK, so then I try to "Discover" a bluetooth device (e.g. LG VX8550 phone) by using the Configuration | Input Devices menu item, the bluetooth icon sometimes flashes and other times stays solid red when its "searching". Nothing happens and it does not find my device. I did put my phone in Discovery mode before I clicked "Add New Devices".
