USB Audio

Hey guys,
I have a sterio that allows USB hookup and it will play out of my sterio speakers. Yet I do not know how to get it to play out the music. When I plus in the USB cord to my laptop, I run dmesg | tail
and I get this:

usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 8
input: Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio DAC as /class/input/input4
input: USB HID v1.00 Device [Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio DAC ] on usb-0000:00:1d.2-1

also when I run cat /proc/asound/card
I get this output:

0 [ICH6 ]: ICH4 - Intel ICH6
Intel ICH6 with AD1981B at 0xb0040800, irq 11
1 [Modem ]: ICH-MODEM - Intel ICH6 Modem
Intel ICH6 Modem at 0x2400, irq 10
2 [default ]: USB-Audio - USB Audio DAC
Burr-Brown from TI USB Audio DAC at usb-0000:00:1d.2-1, full s

So it seems like it is all there, I just don't know how to get it to play out of my sterio. Can anyone help me to get this to work.
Thanks in Advance.

As root, try running "alsaconf"
then run the command "alsamixer" to unmute the chanels if alsaconf didn't do it for you.
Then play a wav file ferom somewhere: "aplay test.wav" where test.wav is a .wav sound file. You could try mpg123 for mp3s or ogg123 for oggs (eg "ogg123 mysong.ogg")

What distro are you using and what kernel do you have?
Does your stereo work with windows???

Ahhh I see U r using slackware

If you have the 2.6 kernel + modules installed then alsaconf should work well. Hopefully your "sound card" will work with it...

Good luck,
Forrest
