i recently had to change my monitor as my previous monitor blew off!!so as a back up i tried using my older IBM 2113 monitor (14"). redhat worked perfectly with my samsung 753df but now after the boot sequence i get a scratchy screen. (nothing is visable). i can go into the console (ctrl+alt+f1)without any problems. how do i change the drivers/monitor settings??

You will need to edit your XF86Config file - I believe the command in RH is: (as root) xf86config and answer the questions accordingly.
