hi,

does any one know how to attach a UPS to a linux box?

the ups is an APC 620 Smart-ups and its pluged in to, what m$dos would call com1

the linux distro is mandrake 8.2

yeah i got it going eventually ( forgot all about this post )


when it was purchaced there was an install cd with it it had drivers for unix on there

i extracted it and tried it and it worked, now my ups is playing up and i keep getting messages from the ups saying its battery is discharged ( this is because the ups messed up on a windows box and it not due to linux )


its all pretty easy just follow the instructions, basically all it is is powerchute for *nix machines ( recomend you have X installed or at least assess to one most of the ups config and testing is done through the powerchute program)
