Upgrading Firmware

I have an Optorite dd1205 burner installed in my linux box, and am just now starting to play around with the recording tools.

On the home page for cdrecord, I read that I should check for, and update to, the latest firmware.

So I went to the site, and found that yes, there is an upgrade for the firmware. Problem is it's only available as an exe. (Which happens to be a winzip auto-extractor, which contains another exe.)

Does anyone know how/if I can port this over to linux (gentoo) somehow to do the upgrade?

I very much doubt it. WINE probably wouldn't be of any use in this case either.

I think you'll have to put the burner in a Windows machine and do the upgrade there.
