upgrading bios

i got a dell inspiron with redhat 8 installed my video card is know as vesa which is actually geforce when i start x x system tries to show some empty bits of video memory some stupid screen and goes back to normal so if a upgrade the bios is there a possibility to overcome this problem? and i do not have windows installed when i upgrade bios is there a possiblity to lose linux

No need to change the BIOS. Your x isn't configured correctly for your video. Download the latest drivers from Nvidia for RH 8 and follow the installation instructions.

i tried it when nvidia driver installed x window becomes slow and after shutting down screen flickkers under console
