Upgraded Ubuntu, now RAID 1 array is missing files
Hi!
For the longest time I've had this Ubuntu server version 10.something, and I haven't messed with it in forever. Just been working flawlessly for what I need it for. Anyway, I decided to upgrade to 12.4LTS cause the old version is not supported anymore.
The upgrade seemed to work for the most part, keeping all my personal data, but I have a software RAID1 set up with two 2TB hard drives. The system does recognize the RAID and I can remount it, but only a small fraction of my files are visible. And one of the folders on the raid, when I enter that folder or run a dir/ls on it, the system hangs while trying to read it.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm thinking of re-creating the RAID from one of the disks with these steps:
1) mount a single drive and make sure I can read the files that I really need.
2) delete the other drive
3) recreate the raid1 from the drive with all the data on it.
i really don't know if this is even possible or where to start here. ANY input at all would be appreciated. I've tried a ton of commands for step 1 but keep getting errors that I can't find solutions for.
Anyway, if someone could get me started in the right direction by verifying whether i'm on the right track with my steps, or if there is a better way? And if these are the right steps, what are the commands?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
