Unseen 2nd drive
Hi
I have installed a second drive on to which I have installed Mepis. On the first drive I have Win98SE and Suse 9.2. Upon switching the machine on the Suse grub is loaded which gives me the choice of either Windows or Suse 9.2. I am unable to put a Mepis option on the menu so I access this via a floppy disk using SBMinST.
If I select Suse 9.2 option the second drive is not shown and to all intents and purposes does not exist. The boot log however shows that during loading the second drive is seen as hb1 but it does not make any reference to the file system which is ext3. The Suse kernel continues to load on hba using the reseirfs file system.
Can anyone explain why Suse will not see the second drive? It sees Windows which is ha1. Incidentally, the BOIS obviously sees all the disk drives/cdrom etc which is installed.

Unseen 2nd drive
Hi
No. And any attempt to enter it flags an error in the subsequent boot log.

Unseen 2nd Drive
Kimx
I have tried entering a line is fstab for hb1 but it flags an error when I try to enter that drive. If I leave the entry in fstab and boot the boot log also flags a "bad entry" error in fstab. I have tried the most obvious things to try to access the drive from Suse but do no avail, hence my request for enlightenment. Incidentally another confounding matter is that if I boot into hdb1 (Mepis) using the SbMinSt disk once in the drive I can see all of hda including Windows and Suse.
I have been using Suse since my introduction to Linux in 1997 (Suse 6.4). I am getting very annoyed with the RPM/dependencies situation and wanted to try a Debian distro on the undestanding that "apt" was much better.

What kind of drives and how are they installed? Also I doubt your system is seeing them as "ha1" and "hb1". The drives should be seen as hda and hdb, and the partitions should be, for instance, "hda1" and "hdb1". Please be exact and precise in your writing.
Also you say you entered a line in fstab for "hb1" but you didn't specify what line, exactly, that you entered. Please do so.
When you have provided ALL required information, precisely and exactly, I am sure we can get it figured out.
