uninstallable driver
having finally been able to to compile linux kernel 2.6.18 on ubuntu 7.10, I have been trying to install my nvidia geforce fx 5200 but I keep getting an eroor saying that the driver cannot determine what kind of kernel version I have installed, currently I am using the vesa module for graphics which we all know is not as good as the nvidia driver itself. Could someone please tell me how to install my driver properly or at least how to compile my kernel effectively.
p.s will the upcoming Ubuntu 8.01 have built in kernel support for nvidia geforce 5200 specs: processor : celeron 4 graphic card : nvidia geforce fx 5200 graphic driver/module : vesa system : Ubuntu 7.10 kernel : kernel 2.6.18 desktops : kde, gnome |
can you try with this ??
apt-get install nvidia-glx kernal-module-nvidia-2.6.9-1.667 Quote:
