UniChrome XORG 40072d display driver

There's been a new openchrome driver available for a few weeks now: http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...0&SubCatID=169

My question is regarding the notorious K8M800 & K8N800 chipsets, particularly on the 'supported' distros; Debian 3.1r4 (kernel 2.6.8-2-386)/4.0/4.0r1, Fedora Core Linux 4/5/6, Mandriva Linux 2007.0/2007.1, openSUSE Linux 10.2 and Ubuntu Desktop 6.10/7.04.

Have you got reliable 3D support?

I no longer have that laptop, but the new owner is still suffering. If it works I'll go round & put Debian on it for them.

I borrowed the laptop & installed Debian in a separate partition to test it out.

~300MB of dep's were required, the documentation had fatal typos, the scripts looked in all the wrong places, the utility doesn't run and the resulting driver produces a black screen.

This really is a terrible release from Via, I would advise staying well clear.
