try slmodem driver. you should have done a little more info about your new modem. Anyway, try it: http://www.smlink.com/main/item.php?...=84&main_id=32

look also at modem howtos on tldp page. There are many howtos there. read all. seek for modem howto on google too.

modem

I first found it under SUSE and it worked directly. After that I read the code from SUSE and I succeded to install it under any distribution. I do not use any longer a modem, so I can't help you any mode.

Cool

For the most reliable connection for dial up, try an external modem. They connect by RS-232 cable to the serial port on the computer. Also the controller chip inside the modem does much of the work, freeing up YOUR processor for other tasks. NOT USB. USB is difficult to configure in Linux, because Linux uses the Serial connection. Then the software has to change all the fundamentals to USB. The serial connection also has much software to choose from. Wvdial, kinternet, kppp, or Gkdial plus others. Also the Linux Distros have the drivers for most external modems. Plug it in, reboot, and set up YOUR ISP. You will need Username and Password plus the name of YOUR ISP and YOUR e-mail address. The other stuff YOU'll learn from the man pages. Like tweaking the settings in YOUR dial up program.
