understanding fbset

I'm trying to configure gentoox on my xbox and I'm struggling with the fbset command. With my current settings I get a great picture on my 720p HDTV but I need to squeeze the picture a bit vertically and horizontally to get it to fit inside just right (it looks like 5 to 10% is missing on all sides)

Here's my current fbset command:
fbset -g 1280 720 1280 720 32 -t 13468 236 70 22 3 80 5

I've read the man page for fbset but I don't know what virtual resolutions, horizontal or vertical sync lengths are. I've tried what feels like hundreds of different permutations and I can make it worse but not better.

If anyone can give me some tips of how to tweak the above to get the picture to fit on my screen, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks!

little help

I'm stuck on this too. I tried to make sense out of it, but now my progress bar and all my cool boot animations start in a smalll six inch by four window on the top left of my screen. All I want is a nice 1024X768 display with a good colour depth and a good refresh rate. (I'm using an X800 video card).

Can anyone explain how to achieve this?
