That problem has 'gone away' after a few reboots and Ubuntu works fine now.
Apparently the latest BIOS does not affect my installation however, I decided to update it.
After that Ubuntu still does not like dual monitors and hangs, seems to go into an infinite loop which means a hard re-boot is needed.
However, Windows 10 is happy now and works seamlessly. One step forward.
I am not sure if that is due to the BIOS update or to the recent upgrade to Ubuntu 21.10 impish.
