hi. im trying to get a usb wireless adaptor working that uses the zd1201 driver but ran into some problems. I read the README for the driver and it said to just type make as root. the first time it said it could not find the directory /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware so i created it and it installed the second time. Here is the output of /var/log/messages after sticking the adaptor in.
Code:
Jul 1 21:11:10 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
Jul 1 21:11:10 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choiceJul 1 21:11:10 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: Failed to load zd1201.fw firmware file!
Jul 1 21:11:10 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: Make sure the hotplug firmware loader is installed.
Jul 1 21:11:10 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: Goto http://linux-lc100020.sourceforge.net for more info
Jul 1 21:11:10 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: zd1201 firmware upload failed: -2
Jul 1 21:11:10 localhost kernel: zd1201: probe of 2-1:1.0 failed with error -2
my educated guess is that because i created that folder so it wouldn't complain the driver isn't where the system is looking for it. Do i need to put it in /lib/kernel/versionnumber/... or is there somewhere else i need to put it? The distro is FC4 with kernel 2.6.17-1/2139_FC4. Thanks for any replies in advance.
