Unable to open modem Nokia N70
 

I'll start off by saying I've been using Linux for 24 hours....

I'm trying to set up a Nokia N70 as a dial up modem to use GPRS for my internet connection. If I can get this going I'll be sold on Linux!

The dialing part is easy - *99# and use the +cgdcont=1,"ip","internet" (internet is my APN)

I'm using Kubuntu's standard dialer app KPPP.

My problem is getting my PC to see that a modem is there. When I run the dmesg command without it connected I get nothing at the bottom relating to anything usb, but when i run dmesg with the phone attached it mentions some familiar things. The last line says
"drivers/usb/class/cdc-acm.c: v0.23:USB Abstract Control Model driver for USB modems and ISDN adapters"

Everything I have read so far tells me that it should tell you where the device is located.
eg. /dev/usb/ttyACMO

Nothing like that is displayed, but it does mention the final part - ttyACM0

How can i get the dialer to open the modem or what have I missed. Is there something I can just download that will get it going?
