unable to mount redmi note 4 in debian 7 wheezy on Toshiba laptop

Hi I am Rupesh from India and I have Toshiba satellite c55 b894 laptop and redmi note 4 with snap dragon processor Android phone. I want to copy 50 GB from my laptop to Android phone. I have tried in Windows but it is giving a number of errors such as the path of the filename is very long I mean greater than 255 characters. So I have installed debian 7 wheezy and tried but gnome file browser is not showing an entry for my phone.

I have even installed packages such as go-mtpfs, mtp-tools, gvfs etc., even no use. When I issue the commands mtp-detect and mtp-connect I am getting output as Android phone detected but VIP id unknown etc.,. when I connect the same phone in Windows 8 it is detected.

You can suggest that why can't you use debian latest version but my answer is I have installed the latest version of opensuse ie., leap 42.3 and after restarting the system I am unable to see gdm login screen even though I have waited for 1 hour. The same thing happened when I installed opensuse 13.1 etc.,. Luckily wheezy installed successfully and everything are working fine except redmi note 4 phone is not mounted. I think that latest Linux kernels are not being supported by my laptop so I have tried wheezy. Few days back I have updated my bios and this also may be a problem.

I have even downloaded Android studio, Android tools for Linux but I don't know how to install them. Can you suggest adb and USB drivers for my phone and also Android minimal tools package for my OS which contains tools like adb, fastboot etc.,.

Please suggest how to mount my phone and transfer files between phone and system.

Regards,
Rupesh.

Installing a later version of openSUSE is *NOT THE SAME THING* as installing the latest version of Debian, is it? And is this the same Toshiba Satellite you have been posting about for at least three years now? The one where you botched the install, and refused to correct the errors, and were surprised it didn't work?

And again, as you've been told many times previously...you need to actually provide a real error. Saying "VIP unknown etc." tells us practically nothing.

How do you think the BIOS is going to affect how your phone is recognized? And loading an old OS means that you ALSO load old kernel modules, and that you're missing the current tools needed to recognize new hardware. This should not be a surprise.

Then you probably need to READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS...we can't read them for you.

Load a current OS, and (AGAIN) read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature. Unless you provide details and do your own basic research FIRST, there isn't much anyone can help you with. You don't seem to be taking any advice given, about loading a new OS, doing reinstalls, or pretty much anything else we tell you here, so there is little point in asking us questions when you don't want to take the answers/advice you're given, is there?

Putting "linux android mount redmi" into Google pulls up many suggestions with instructions and packages. Start there. You can also think just a *LITTLE* about what you're trying to do....did you try bluetooth to transfer files? Load an FTP client/file manager on your phone? Or did you just plug your new phone into your old OS, and post here?
