Unable to install Fedora, possible hardware issue

I'm trying to install Fedora on a blank hard drive but it fails. The disk has a media check which passes. I just rebuilt my desktop. The motherboard is a Gigabyte ga-970 gaming sli. I have a Western Digital Black 750g SATA I drive. When booting, the drive light stays steady on, and will stay on after shutting down. I have to power down the psu to get it off. I did some research, the only possibility I found suggested something wrong with the sata controller. The manufacturer's website has no information on it. I've tried different sata ports. I suspect the light issue is a symptom of the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

you say blank drive

as in what ?

empty but formatted to ext4 with a GPT table ?
or unformatted ?

or still Microsoft ntfs with the windows *.exe tools on the first partition ?

Hi...

To confirm it's the controller, try another hard drive or two and see what happens. Also, what does your BIOS show, out of curiosity? :)

Regards...

it really sounds like you didn't connect it properly.
or maybe there's some jumper pin thingies that have to be un/bridged... dunno if they still use these...

If the drive is connected using a red cable, particularly if it is an old red cable, try a cable that is not red. Some red dyes are known to cause destruction of the wires the cable contains.
