unable to have the refresh rates that I want

I have tried to get xorg to use the recomended refresh rates for my lcd monitor which are 1280x1024 at h 63.98 v 60.02

I tried dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and selected advanced at the set the maximum refresh rate for v and h to the recomended rates but when i restart x I still get the refeesh rates at h 80.0 and v 75.0 The monitor can handle this rate and its the hgihgest it can go, but id like to run it at the recommended refresh rate. How do aia go about achiving this?

I have a nvidia fx5200 card and I am using the nvidia drivers not the nv one. I am running debian etch.

Thanks in advance Michael

edit, form=got to mention when i use the medium setting and select 1280x1024 at 60hz i still get the above refesh rates and not one at 60.
