The printer is now working. Thanks everyone for the help. It took a while to get used to what can be done and what cannot be done from the localhost:631 screens. I thought for a while I would have to type "-d TOSHIBA_e-STUDIO4511" after the lp command every time I wanted to print something. But "lpoptions -d TOSHIBA_e-STUDIO4511" fixed that. On the Ubuntu system, I had written a 4-page Perl script to format text pages the way I wanted. That worked fine without any changes. Next is to explore printing directly from PostScript code.

From any page or document just go to File>>Print or File>>Print Preview at top of window.

I was not happy with the format produced by the file>>print action. So I go back to the terminal window and run my own print code. In Perl, it does things not covered by the many options of lp.
