Unable to bring up the Eth phy interface up in imx6 processor.

I am currently trying to upgrade to a a new Linux kernel for my custom board based on imx6 processor.

I use a smsc lan8740 chip which works well old kernel versionV3.10.17

No since I wanted to upgrade to a new kernel, I started work on 5.10.x kernel. But after giving appropriate dtb entries the PHY chip is not up.

I have attached the DTB entry and the kernel log. In the log I can see that the fec driver is able detect the MDIO interface and assign it eth0. But as the kernel boot process continues the init of PHY chip fails. No failure event is printed.
Can someone look in to the log and point me to some right direction?

The DTS entries are as follows:
Code:
&fec {
    pinctrl-names = "default";
    pinctrl-0 = <&pinctrl_enet>;
    phy-mode = "rmii";
    phy-reset-gpios = <&gpio5 5 0>;
    phy-reset-duration = <1>;
    phy-reset-post-delay = <1>;
    phy-handle = <&phy>;
    fsl,magic-packet;
    status = "okay";

    mdio {
        #address-cells = <1>;
        #size-cells = <0>;

        phy: ethernet-phy@1 {
            compatible = "ethernet-phy-id0007.c110", "ethernet-phy-ieee802.3-c22";
            reg = <1>;

        };
    };
};
