Ultra slow disc access with software raid
Hi
I have a problem with Mandriva 2007 free as well as all other distributions (Red hat based, CentOS 4.4, Fedora 6 etc). Setup I have tried AMD XP 2600+ (32 bit) 2 * 200 Gb Sata discs AMD XP 3200+ (64 bit) 2 * 250 GB Samsung SATA discs The setup on both machines has been sda1 /boot 100mb sda2 Swap 2 Gb sda3/md0 / 16 Gb sda4/md1 /mnt/share 170Gb (larger on the 250 gb) sdb1/md0 / 16 Gb sdb2/md1 /mnt/share 170 Gb (larger on the 250 gb) md0 is raid1 mirror md1 is raid0 Installation often goes well all discs formatted etc. system installed. But after reboot the system is so slow so after 4-5 hours the system has not finished booting. This error has occured on all distributions and two different machines and different discs. No logs available of course since booting would take a week. Does anyone know what's causing this? |

I tried to remove the other one since this is the relevant place. As I have written on top of the other post I found no way to delete that post.
