Ubuntu eth0 still asigned when card was removed
Hi,
I recently migrated my Ubuntu Dapper installation from an existing laptop to a new machine. Everything works well, however there is something I can't figure out.
The old laptop had on board ethernet. The new one has an ethernet adapter and a wireless LAN adapter.
The only way to get these working, is to configure them using eth1 and eth2. If I adapt /etc/network/interfaces using only eth0 and eth1, eth0 will be bound to the no longer existing network interface from the old laptop, and fail.
I do not have an /etc/modules.conf file. I checked all files in /etc/modprobe.d but non of them contain entries for eth devices. I also checked files in the /etc/modutils directory, and iftab.
I just donīt see why ubuntu keeps this invalid eth0 adapter. It was autodetected but I have no idea if this gets saved somewhere.
Any idea how to clean this?
Rgds
