Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

ubuntu drivers for nvidia card

I recently switched from suse to ubuntu. I am trying to configure the video card. It tells me to install http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/po...i386.deb...but it fails.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I also have a wireless card that does not seem to be picked up, any ideas?

Thanks,
Travis

Hmmm, you need to give more details mate. What fails? Do you get an error message? Which version of Ubuntu are you using? What graphics card do you have?

Well, the link you posted is a broken link, so I am not surprised it fails (and yes, I've removed the "but" at the end). If you are using a recent version of Ubuntu, you should be able to install the drivers simply by going into "System >> Administration >> Restricted Drivers Manager" and enabling the Nvidia driver. I can't say this will work with every Nvidia card (since I don't know which one you have, I can't say if its supported either) or with older versions of Ubuntu (can't remember if this was available since the beginning, but it definitely works with 8.04)

Regards!
