Ubuntu 7.04 start up usb problem

So today I booted my computer as usual and I went to watch tv in the living room as it booted up and so about 10 minutes later I come back and it says
error usb cable damaged
or something like that and so I unplugged my mouse and my usb wireless network adaptor and I rebooted and it booted perfectly fine and I plugged everything back in and it worked fine, anyone else have this problem or an answer to why that would happen?

Today it booted just fine, so my mouse cable probably wasn't plugged in correctly or something like that
