Ubuntu 18.04 stuck at Ubuntu logo, disabling wayland doesn't help
Can't get past Ubuntu logo on bootup.
This happened after installing a Ubuntu repository softwarre that controls brightness.
Tried the solutions offered for disabling wayland display by dropping into shell after bios, but that doesn't work.
Here is what I *can* do:
1) Start the computer and boot with Ubuntu usb and access folders and files on stricken machine.
2) I can boot boot into recovery mode and see all my data, folders, desktop, etc. but they are distorted.
NOTE: in the software center I attempt to remove Brightness Control (Xrandr)extensions.gnome.org but the "uninstall" button does not work. I believe this may be the culprit but how do I uninstall a belligerence piece of software?
Now what? Please.
