Edit: Fast Answer --
Code:
apt-get install fglrx; reboot;
Ugh. I haven't had to install a desktop linux in so long, I've essentially forgotten how. Blame my memory. Anyway,..
The 14.04 Desktop Live CD worked fine, but after installing to HDD the X login screen scrambles and I have to dump to CLI to see anything. Here is some info about the issue:
A la grep from syslog:
Code:
compiz[2258]: segfault at 4 ip b462bf20 sp bfcbf20 error 5 in r300_dri.so
and the card info via lspci is this:
Code:
VGA compatible controller: Advance Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RV370 [Radeon X300]
Which is *fully* supported according to Ubuntu themselves here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver
driver via dpkg --list is installed:
Code:
xserver-xorg-video-ati
So,. my question is,. how do I get a working desktop, utilizing this forsaken ATI card, in Ubuntu like the LiveCD?
If you need the entire output of Xorg, here it is:
