TxPower problems

Hello everybody.

Been using Fedora for a while now maybe a year or two switched from Ubuntu more less never had any serious problems regarding wireless but now I seam to be unable to change the TxPower of my wireless NIC.

Here is what I tried:

Code:
ifconfig wlp2s0 down
iw reg set DE
iwconfig wlp2s0 txpower 20
ifconfig wlp2s0 up
No error message is given.

This doesn't work either.

Code:
iw dev wlp2s0 set txpower limit 10 mBm
OS: Fedora 20
Device: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565
Driver: ath9k

Thank you for your time.

Did it used to work?
Is there a particular reason you need to manually set the TXP?

Did not try to do it before so I really do not know.

Well I wanted to mess around with it.

At my summer house I do not have internet connection, don't really need it much but my friend has it however range of his wireless is not great I had an idea to boost the power of my NIC and be able to connect to his wireless, it does not need to be a signal of good quality or anything of a kind, as long as I can open and read news papers that would be great.

Current txpower is 16dBm, was hoping to go to 30, I do do believe that that would be the maximum allowed by the law.

Maybe the transmitter in your NIC isn't that strong. They don't all have the same output level.
Usually when the signal quality is bad, it will increase automatically. The best way to check
to see if it works is to set the power lower

First thing I did. Current power is 16 I tried 10. My problem is that I can not alter it at all. And I can not figure out why, no error messages are given and I have no idea what else to do. I mean at this point of time I do not care about wireless that much I am far more interested to figure out why wont it work and how to fix it.

Thank you for your time.
